A Gen X  Love Letter to Other Generations

With love

Dear Boomers, Millennials, Gen Z, and Beyond,

Ah, the sweet, sweet bonds we share across the generations. We, the humble Gen Xers, just wanted to take a moment to express our undying love and admiration for all of you. After all, nothing says “we care” quite like being sandwiched between your self-righteous wisdom and your passionate crusades for…well, everything. DILLIGAF? (Look it up, kids.)

Boomers, we can’t thank you enough for the world you’ve handed us. The stability of your economy, the joys of endless corporate ladder-climbing, and the sheer thrill of navigating multiple recessions—you really set the bar high. And the housing market? Just like, totally awesome, dude. It’s been a real blast trying to live up to those golden expectations. Like, gag me with a spoon if we ever get as lucky as you.

Millennials, bless your hearts. We admire your relentless optimism and commitment to avocado toast as the cure for all life’s woes. Your ability to redefine everything—from work to love to brunch—is truly inspiring. And the way you’ve embraced the gig economy? Pure genius. Who needs job security when you can have a side hustle selling artisanal candles? Like, gag me with a spoon, but you do you!

Gen Z, we see you. Your TikTok dances, your memes, your world-changing activism—all while barely looking up from your screens. We applaud your multitasking. And thank you for reminding us how “out of touch” we are. We never knew we needed so much guidance on how to use technology we basically invented. Like, totally rad.

And to all future generations, you’re welcome. For what, you ask? For laying the groundwork for your rebellion, of course! We might be the forgotten generation, but we’ve mastered the art of surviving in a world where everyone else has the spotlight. We’ll just be over here, quietly enjoying our mixtapes, grunge playlists, and existential dread—no need to worry about us.

So here’s to you, our beloved younger and older siblings. Keep fighting the good fight, disrupting industries, and reinventing the wheel. We’ll be here, with our sarcasm, our flannel shirts, and our endless stream of pop culture references, ready to say “told you so” when the world comes full circle. DILLIGAF? You better believe it.

With all the love a latchkey kid can muster,

Generation X
